About Narsimha Chary
Narsimha Chary is a practicing lawyer and the legal team lead at FileMyRTI. He works on Right to Information matters across central ministries, state departments, and local bodies, and helps users prepare RTI requests under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
- Role
- Practicing Lawyer | Legal Team Lead
- Primary focus
- Pan-India
Practice & Experience
His work spans the full RTI lifecycle - original applications under Section 6, First Appeals under Section 19(1), and Second Appeals before the Central and State Information Commissions under Section 19(3) - in matters involving pension records, land revenue records, passport delays, educational records, and public distribution grievances. He reviews complex matters, particularly those touching on Section 8 exemptions and cases where a Public Information Officer has misclassified a request, before an application is finalised.
Drafting Approach
His drafting approach emphasises specificity over breadth: a single, precisely framed question is usually more productive than a long list of loosely worded ones. He also frames each request to pre-empt the most commonly invoked Section 8 exemption grounds.
