Sakala service delayed or rejected? Do this next

A delayed or rejected Karnataka service application is worth escalating through the official steps before RTI enters. Every step below renders from a source verified on the date shown; the RTI section then covers what you can request about the record when the application stays stuck.

FileMyRTI is not a government website. The official route below involves no FileMyRTI charge - any official fee is the department's own, stated on its portal. Our paid help applies only at the RTI stage, if you choose it.

First, make sure the official route is exhausted

Step 1 - File correctly. Apply for the service through its normal channel; if your application has a SAKALA (GSC) number, keep it - the portal's status search and appeals run on it.
Step 2 - Track it. Track by SAKALA number on the portal, including First Appeal (FAP) and Second Appeal (SAP) status.
Step 3 - Know the timeline. Official timeline: Per-service time limits are notified in the official Sakala service compendium (current edition dated 05-05-2026).
Step 4 - Escalate on the portal. If the service is delayed or rejected, file the online First Appeal; a Second Appeal lies beyond it (both trackable on the portal).

Still stuck? Put it on record with an RTI

If a Sakala appeal also stalls, an RTI to the SPIO of the department that owns the service can request the application status, the officer responsible, and the recorded reasons.

What to ask for (quote your registration number):
  1. The present status of the application bearing SAKALA (GSC) number [YOUR NUMBER], and the designated officer or desk it is pending with.
  2. The stipulated time limit notified for this service under Sakala, and any recorded due date for its disposal.
  3. If the application was delayed or rejected, the reasons recorded.
  4. If a First Appeal was filed, the action taken on it as per the record.

Under Section 7(1) of the RTI Act, the PIO is ordinarily required to respond within 30 days.

If the RTI reply does not arrive or is unsatisfactory, a First Appeal lies with the First Appellate Authority of the same public authority within 30 days.

Common questions

Where do I find my SAKALA (GSC) number? If your application under a notified service has a SAKALA (GSC) number, keep it with your papers - it is what the portal's status search and both appeal tiers run on.
Will an RTI get my service delivered? An RTI cannot order delivery of the service. It provides access to the record - the status, the officer it is pending with, the notified time limit, and the reasons recorded - which documents where the application stands for your appeal.
Is my problem a Sakala matter or a Janaspandana grievance? If you applied for a notified service and hold a SAKALA number, the Sakala track (status plus First and Second Appeals) is your route. For grievances about departments or schemes generally, use Janaspandana (online, 1902, app or operator kiosks).
