Prajavani petition filed, no action? Do this next

You handed in a petition at Praja Bhavan and received an acknowledgement with a reference ID, but nothing has visibly happened. Prajavani routes petitions to departments - the action file sits with the department it went to. Track first, then use RTI for the record trail.

First, make sure the official route is exhausted

Check scope. Prajavani (Praja Bhavan) does not handle: Do not use the old cpgrams.ts.nic.in portal - it was officially discontinued on 01-Jun-2026 (notice on the old portal citing Letter No. 16/Plg/Prajavani/2026).
Step 1 - File correctly. Submit the petition in person at Praja Bhavan on a Tuesday or Friday; you receive an acknowledgement with a unique reference ID.
Step 2 - Track it. Track online in the Grievance Status tab using your mobile number or reference number.

If a Prajavani petition disappears without outcome, an RTI to the SPIO of the department it was forwarded to can request the action-taken record on your reference ID.

What to ask for (quote your registration number):
  1. The present status of Prajavani petition reference number [YOUR REF], the department it was forwarded to, and the date of forwarding.
  2. The officer or desk with whom the petition is currently pending.
  3. A copy of the action-taken report recorded against the petition, with the reasons recorded.
  4. If the petition was closed, the date of closure and the reasons recorded for closure.

Under Section 7(1) of the RTI Act, the PIO is ordinarily required to respond within 30 days.

If the RTI reply does not arrive or is unsatisfactory, a First Appeal lies with the First Appellate Authority of the same public authority within 30 days.

Who holds my petition file - Prajavani or the department?Prajavani records the petition and routes it to District Collectors, department heads and the officials concerned; the department it was forwarded to holds the action file, and RTIs about action taken go to that department's SPIO. The custodian of the platform's own routing records has not been officially identified, so that route is not stated here.
Will an RTI get my grievance resolved?An RTI cannot order a resolution. It provides access to the record - which department has the petition, since when, and what action was recorded - which shows where it is stuck and gives you paper for the next escalation.
I used the old Telangana CPGRAMS portal earlier - what happened to it?The old cpgrams.ts.nic.in portal was officially discontinued on 01-Jun-2026 (notice citing Letter No. 16/Plg/Prajavani/2026). Prajavani at Praja Bhavan, with online tracking, is the current route.
