Lakshadweep RTI Help: How to File by Post (Form A)
Note: FileMyRTI is not a government website. This guide helps citizens use the official RTI portal correctly. If the portal does not support your department or filing route, FileMyRTI can help you file through the correct online or postal method.
To file an RTI in Lakshadweep, submit the RTI application (Form A, published on lakshadweep.gov.in) to the concerned Public Information Officer by post or in person, with the Rs. 10 fee. There is no online RTI filing portal. For Central Government offices, use rtionline.gov.in.
Before you start, keep these ready
- Your full name, postal address and contact details
- The Lakshadweep department / office and its PIO address
- Your RTI questions, written in plain language (use Form A from lakshadweep.gov.in)
- The Rs. 10 fee (cash against receipt / IPO / DD / court-fee stamp) - or a BPL certificate if exempt
- Speed Post / registered post to send it (and keep the receipt)
How filing works
- Identify the correct Lakshadweep Administration public authority and its PIO (use FindMyPIO if unsure).
- Fill Form A (published on lakshadweep.gov.in) in plain language, addressed to the PIO.
- Attach the Rs. 10 fee (cash against receipt / IPO / DD / court-fee stamp; BPL applicants attach the certificate).
- Keep a photo or photocopy of the full application and fee instrument.
- Send it by Speed Post / registered post and keep the receipt; the PIO must respond within 30 days.
If your department is not listed (the most common problem)
- Identify the parent Lakshadweep department the office sits under (see lakshadweep.gov.in).
- If it is a Central Government office, use the Central RTI portal (rtionline.gov.in) - see our Central portal help.
- File Form A by post to the PIO - see our guide to filing RTI offline.
- Not sure which office or PIO? Use FindMyPIO, or let FileMyRTI identify it and file for you.
