Yes - you can file an RTI to the Tehsildar Office, Andheri West (Mumbai Suburban district). Use RTI for the status of a mutation (ferfar) that has not been effected, reasons for rejection, discrepancies between records, and delays in income/domicile/caste certificate applications. Sample RTI questions (edit the bracketed details)
Keep questions specific and factual. Do not include anyone else's personal details, and ask for records/status/reasons rather than opinions.
Who to address it to (identifying the PIO)
Address the RTI to the PIO of the Tehsildar Office, Andheri (Mumbai Suburban Revenue Department). Use FindMyPIO or let FileMyRTI identify the correct PIO. Remember to attach the self-attested photo ID required under the 2026 Maharashtra rules.
How to file: online or by post
Maharashtra has an official online RTI portal (rtionline.maharashtra.gov.in). Under the newly notified Maharashtra RTI Rules, 2026, the application fee is reported as Rs. 30 and a self-attested photo identity proof is required. See our Maharashtra portal help.
For the postal route - including how to attach the fee - see how to file an RTI offline (by post). Always keep the Speed Post / registered post receipt as proof.
If this office is not listed on the portal
Look for the parent department the office sits under; if it is genuinely not available online, file by post to the PIO. Use Section 6(3) transfer only after a reasonable effort to identify the correct authority - see Section 6(3) explained.
If there is no reply in 30 days
The PIO is ordinarily required to respond within 30 days under Section 7(1) of the RTI Act. If there is no proper response, file a First Appeal with the First Appellate Authority of the same public authority; if that fails, a Second Appeal lies with the State Information Commission. FileMyRTI helps with the First Appeal route - see the Appeal Generator.
