When to File RTI for Pension or Gratuity Delay

File an RTI if:

  • Pension hasn’t started even after official retirement date

  • Gratuity is approved but not disbursed

  • Family pension is delayed after a retiree's death

  • No clear answer from the Accounts or Treasury Department

Sample RTI Application Format

To: Public Information Officer (PIO)
[Department Name – e.g., State Treasury / Accountant General Office / Pension Department]

Subject: RTI Application Seeking Status of Pension/Gratuity Disbursement

I retired from service on [DD/MM/YYYY] from [Department Name]. My PPO (Pension Payment Order) / file number is [XXXXX].

Please provide the following information under RTI Act:

  1. Status of pension/gratuity disbursement

  2. File movement details: dates and officers handling it

  3. Reasons for delay, if any

  4. Timeline for disbursal as per Citizen Charter

  5. Certified copy of internal note or sanction file

I enclose ₹10 RTI fee.

  • PPO / Retirement order copy

  • ID proof
